Last Saturday five of us headed out of town on road bikes with the two Bruces setting the pace. Averaging 30k an hour to Upper Takaka we continued up the hill making the Canaan turn off in about 1 hour 45.  John met us for the transition to mountain bikes and it was off down the Canaan road to the Rameka and back to town.  A successful rekky of a ride that hopefully will become a full blown event....watch this space.
